There were couple of special presentations at a recent Carroll City Council meeting, highlighting the accomplishments of a group of Carroll High School sophomores and city crews. Carroll Police Chief, Brad Burke, says that they wanted to give some recognition to the students who came up with the idea to raise money for the purchase of a K-9 unit and the equipment needed for the animal and his handler, Officer Justin Ferrin.
Chief Burke says the department had not had a K-9 in about 10 years, and it was something that was not expected or budgeted. But these students generated a lot of momentum, bringing the needed funds in much quicker than anyone expected.
There was an award presentation for the city’s asphalt program, and Director of Public Works, Randy Krauel, gave a special thanks for their placement on the agenda.
But in all seriousness, on Nov. 30, the Asphalt Paving Association of Iowa presented the City of Carroll the 2017 Municipal Paving Program Award. JEO Consulting Group and Tri-State Paving were also recognized for their work in the program.
JEO’s Project Manager, Cody Forch and Alicia Markinson (sic) along with Tri-State Paving’s Superintendent of Plant and Paving Operations, Russel Schroeder were also present.
