A court date has been scheduled for a Vail woman accused of writing checks from a reportedly stolen check book. Twenty-eight-year-old Kalie Marie Gaines will appear in District Court for Carroll County on Tuesday, Feb. 13 on forgery charges, a class D felony. The charges stem from a series of incidents between Aug. 29 and Sept. 6 in which authorities believe Gaines wrote multiple checks to several places with the knowledge she did not have the owner’s permission to do so. If found guilty, Gaines faces up to five years imprisonment and a maximum of $7,500 in fines.
