The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education unanimously voted this morning (Monday) to expel the student behind a threatening video posted to social media. The 16-year-old male is barred from the district for one calendar year beginning Monday, Dec. 18. His parents may request for the student to be readmitted at the start of the 2018-19 school year, but a series of conditions must be met for that to be possible. He cannot attend school events or be on district property at any time without advance permission from the superintendent or building principal. The male may not commit any additional criminal violations, and, if the juvenile court becomes involved, he must cooperate with the probation officer’s requirements. The student and parents shall release any information related to the situation to the district upon request. In order not to hamper the student’s ongoing education, he will be allowed to continue classes off of school grounds and is expected to complete all required coursework. The student has been charged with second-degree harassment by the Carroll Police Department for the video. That case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court.
