It has been a long road back for Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, Jesse Swensen, who suffered an injury in a fireworks-related accident on June 30. Swensen celebrated his official full week back to work with his work family at the Sheriff’s Office this past Friday, Dec. 15. Swensen was injured when he was securing his newborn into a car seat and the spark from a firework shot off nearby went into his eye. He was treated in Iowa City for the injuries that resulted in a lack of oxygen in the eye that threatened to cause permanent damage. He continues to receive treatments for this injury.
