The inclement weather last Monday resulted in an item being struck from the Carroll City Council agenda. A representative from Public Financial Management (PFM), who was slated to present bonding scenarios in a debt discussion with members, opted not to drive in from Des Moines for the evening. Susanne Gerlach has rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 29, and City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says she will review those bonding scenarios for a variety of projects during the budget work session beginning at 5:15 p.m. that evening.

Other items of business that the council will address before buckling down to the work session is the proposed replacement for retiring labor attorney, Jim Gilliam. Pogge-Weaver says members from the new firm, Ahlers and Cooney of Des Moines, will be in attendance. A presentation will also be made on funding requests from the Carroll City/County Communications Center. Pogge-Weaver says they will then get down to the budget portion of the evening, aiming to keep the session down to three or three and a half hours. Some changes to the budget book may help with that.

He adds that these summaries came about through requests from the public to streamline the information into a more easily understandable format. Pogge-Weaver says that this year’s budget will show an increase over previous years.
