Disc Golfers Invite Others To Join Them In Fighting Hunger In Halbur Ice Bowl This Weekend

Philanthropists will be braving the elements this weekend to combat hunger during a couple chilly rounds of disc golf. The Halbur Ice Bowl will kick off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the course in Halbur Park. Ice Bowls are held across the nation, but this is the first time one has been held in our area. Money raised from the event will benefit the Community of Concern Food Pantry. Carroll Area Disc Golf Association Board Member, Jacob Fiscus, says you cannot have an Ice Bowl without fighting hunger.

Forecasts show some cold temperatures and possible snow for the weekend. Fiscus says people should definitely brave that potential wintry weather in the name of a good cause.

Normally only the most dedicated disc golfers would hit the course in the heart of winter. Fiscus says that is not the case for the Ice Bowl.

Entrance fees are $15 per participant and includes a lunch break between rounds. The Disc Golf Association will also be raising funds the day of the event by charging $3 per mulligan and a $2 cash ace fund. Space is limited to 36 players. Registration must be completed online by noon on Feb. 2 and can be found by following the link included below this story.
