Arrest Warrants Issued For Denison Woman Who Allegedly Stole From New Hope Residents

The Carroll Police Department has requested an arrest warrant for a Denison woman accused of stealing from New Hope Village residents. Fifty-two-year-old Denise Marie Hjuler allegedly took about $100 each from four clients while they were under her care between Aug. 1, 2017 and Dec. 26, 2017. Through additional investigations, authorities determined she also attempted to hide the thefts by falsifying the clients’ financial accounts. Hjuler is charged with tampering with records, an aggravated misdemeanor, and dependent adult abuse by exploitation, a simple misdemeanor. She could face up time in prison and almost $7,000 if found guilty of the crime. New Hope Village is a non-profit organization that provides vocational and residential services to adults with disabilities.
