Chain-Reaction Collision Occurs At Site Of Another Accident Wednesday

While investigating an accident in which a semi-tractor trailer had ended up partially in the ditch on Wednesday morning, the Greene County Sheriff’s office was faced with a second incident at that scene. They were called to Highway 30 near C Avenue, between Ralston and Scranton at approximately 4:46 a.m. Sixty-one-year-old Robert Fineran of Ida Grove had lost control of his 2004 Kenworth and ended up partially in the ditch and partially blocking one lane of the highway. There was no damage to the truck and no injuries to the driver in that incident, but at approximately 5:50 a.m., another accident occurred with a vehicle that had been stopped by a deputy conducting traffic control. A 1996 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer, driven by 21-year-old Michael Birmingham of Boone, lost control and struck the stopped 1996 Buick Regal, being driven by 30-year-old Allyn Case of Jefferson. After striking the Case vehicle, the semi continued and struck a Ryder truck, driven by 40-year-old Dillon Pfab of Lisbon before ending up in the ditch. There was an estimated $3,000 in damage to the Case vehicle, $5,000 to Birmingham’s semi and $4,000 to the Ryder truck. No injuries were reported, but Birmingham was cited for failure to maintain control.
