Students at Kuemper Catholic High School (KHS) celebrated Mardi Gras today (Tuesday) as they ready for the Lenten season. Freshman through seniors were allowed to dress down for the day by paying $1 and could purchase a wrist band for $3 that would permit them to play games throughout the afternoon. Video games, ping pong, football toss and much more were available to enjoy. Pizza, walking tacos, Subway sandwiches and baked goods could be purchased by students as an alternative to the regular school lunch. The student council used these festivities as a means to raise more than $2,000 for the upcoming Just Feed One food packaging program on March 28 that will go to benefit families in Honduras. The revelry concluded with an all-school prayer service at 3 p.m. this (Tuesday) afternoon. Students begin Lent tomorrow (Wednesday) with Ash Wednesday mass at 8:30 a.m.
