Seven teenagers have been arrested in a “sexting” investigation. The Storm Lake Police Department reports they received allegations that nude photos were being shared via texts at the Storm Lake High School and Middle School, as well as with one student from Sheldon. After interviewing several teens during the investigation, authorities concluded that there were nine minors who were allegedly involved in 15 incidents where photos were shared with other juveniles in Storm Lake, Schaller, Lakeside, Sheldon and as far away as Graham, Wash. On Monday, Feb. 12, six students at the Storm Lake High School and one at the Storm Lake Middle School were arrested and charged. They include: a 15-year-old male from Sheldon; a 17-year-old male from Storm Lake; a 13-year-old female from Storm Lake; 15, 16 and 17-year-old females from Lakeside; and a 16-year-old female from Schaller. Among these seven, there are a total of seven counts of exploitation of a minor, class C felonies, and eight counts of dissemination of obscene material to a minor, serious misdemeanors. All of the juveniles were processed and released to an adult pending a court date.
