An Odebolt woman is dead after a two-vehicle accident Sunday evening in Ida County. The Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene near the intersection of US Highway 20 and Alpine Avenue at approximately 5:30 p.m. An initial investigation shows 22-year-old Destiney Rain Gritten, of Odebolt, was traveling southbound on Alpine Avenue and failed to stop for the post stop sign. Gritten entered the intersection and was struck by an eastbound 2017 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer, driven by 40-year-old Daniel Anderson of Firth, Ind. Following the collision, both vehicles came to rest east of the intersection. Gritten was airlifted by Mercy Air Care to UnityPoint Hospital where she later died from her injuries. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Ida County Sheriff’s Office.
