Trial information was filed Wednesday in District Court for a Carroll woman accused of taking almost 700 doses of a painkiller from the pharmacy where she worked. A judge reviewed the evidence against 41-year-old Stacy Ann Cook and determined enough evidence existed to bring charges of third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor, and prohibited acts, a serious misdemeanor. According to authorities, Cook took the drugs while employed as a pharmacy tech at the Carroll Walgreens from Dec. 13, 2017 to Jan. 31. The painkillers she took, Tramadol, are a schedule IV controlled substance and are regulated by law. Cook faces up to three years imprisonment and more than $8,000 in fines if found guilty of the charges. Her arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, March 22 in District Court for Carroll County.
