People And The Projects That Benefit Them Are The Reasons Danzer Will Seek Another Term With The Carroll Supervisors

District 4 Carroll County Supervisor, Marty Danzer, is entering his 16th year of service, and says that he intends to file the necessary paperwork to run for another four-year term on the board.

Legislation that is being considered today is bringing counties ever closer to working together on a more regional level, and Danzer says he believes that this will become even more commonplace in the future. The recent legislative bill for the phasing out of the property tax backfill to the counties is one example of how regionalization strategies will need to be developed.

He says that mental health care is one area where regionalization has already taken place, and it is one of the biggest challenges he believes the board will continue to work with in the future.

That mental health issue and the transitions for the clients also plays into the county’s need to look at the construction of a new jail. Danzer says that currently, a lot of the mental health clients are being placed in nursing homes or the jails. There are discussions on the state level of regions working together on a 28E agreement on acute care centers for these patients. With the possibility of a referendum in the near future to fund the construction or renovation of the county jail, Danzer says he is proud to have been a part of the teams over the years who have kept the county taxes low. He says that has been critical in the past and will continue to be into the future. This year’s tax rate will be going down one percent on urban and seven percent on rural property owners. He says, however, that they will likely have to look to ramp that up in the future.

Danzer says it is not just the different projects he has been a part of over the past 16 years that have been so important to him, he says working with all of the different people in the county has made the biggest impact. He is also proud of working with many of these individuals on bringing jobs and industry to the area through the wind turbine projects, Iowa Corn Processors, the RISE project in Ralston to support the expansion of a soy processing facility and many more. He enjoys being able to work with the rural communities on their infrastructure and development and bringing these positive aspects to all residents. He wants to continue to be progressive and work for the people of the county, and says anyone is free to contact him and discuss any issue they are facing now or may be facing in the future.
