Authorities Release Name Of Person Killed In Calhoun County Collision

Authorities have released the name of the person killed in a head-on collision in Calhoun County last (Wednesday) night. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 37-year-old Deja Kirbylynne de Rubio, of Albion, was driving a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 20 between Lytton and Rockwell City at approximately 8:30 p.m. The van collided with the front of a westbound 2017 GMC Yukon, driven by 53-year-old Tony Romey Christensen of Humboldt. Both vehicles came to rest in the median following the impact. Kirbylynne de Rubio was pronounced dead at the scene, and Christensen was airlifted by Trinity Air Care to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Three passengers in the Christensen vehicle were transported to Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Rockwell City and Lytton Fire Departments, Calhoun County Emergency Medical Services, the Rockwell City Police Department and the Sac and Calhoun County Sheriffs’ Offices.
