The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) is reporting influenza activity in the state continues to decline. According to a report released Friday, about 70 percent of the recent cases are attributed to influenza B. Influenza A cases have remained low, comparatively, peaking at 26 percent in late January. Eighty-six Iowans were hospitalized this week due to flu-related complications. Researchers are pleased to note that no specimens submitted have yet displayed antiviral resistance. So far this season, 235 deaths have been attributed to the flu.
