Rockwell City Farmer To Receive Good Farm Neighbor Award

A Rockwell City Farmer and his family have been named Wergin Good Farm Neighbor award winners. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Naig, has announced that the Jason Folsom family from Calhoun County will be presented with the award in a special ceremony on Tuesday, April 3 at the Expo Center on the Calhoun County Fairgrounds in Rockwell City. The family was nominated by Darcy Maulsby, a friend and fellow Calhoun County Farm Bureau board member and Calhoun County Corn Grower member. In the nomination, she outlined the family’s commitment to caring for their roughly 2,400 head of hogs. “For Jason, producing high-quality pork starts with a focus on animal well-being,” Maulsby says. “That includes proper nutrition, following tight biosecurity standards and maintaining a good working relationship with his veterinarian.” He also continues to invest in testing and management plans that focus on protecting the environment. Folsom serves as a board member for the Calhoun County Farm Bureau and as a District 4 representative of the Iowa Corn Growers Association.
