The Time For An Organ Donation Conversation Is Now, MRHC Is Ready To Help You Start One

April is donate life month, and Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) is partnering with the Iowa Donor Network to bring more information on the importance of organ donation to the general public. They will be hosting a free community event, Coffee and Conversation: Organ, Tissue and Eye Donation, on Friday, April 27 in the MRHC conference room. This will be an opportunity to learn more about how the decision to become a donor can impact the lives of others and also to dispel the myths surrounding organ donation. Currently, about 69 percent of Iowans are registered donors, but the number of people needing transplants continues to outpace that percentage. There are more than 715 Iowans who are right now waiting to receive a life-saving donation, and unfortunately, many of those will not receive an organ in time. On average, 22 people die each day in the United States while waiting for a transplant. The conversation will start at 10:30 a.m., and though walk-ins are welcome, you can also reserve a seat by using the contact information included below.
