Carroll’s Director of Parks and Recreation, Jack Wardell, says that one of the improvements going on in the city this spring revolves around a game that has surged in popularity in recent years—pickleball.
Wardell says they are looking at Northwest Park for placement of courts.
Several requests had come in from community members for the creation of the courts. After a gentleman came and presented information about pickleball and had about 50 area residents attend in support of the effort, the city created a temporary space. Wardell says they put lines in the Carroll Rec Center and have a group of nearly 20 who play three times a week or so. Because of the slower pace and smaller footprint of the court, pickleball is a game that can be played by people of all ages. Anyone interested in learning more about this up-and-coming physical activity is encouraged to contact the Carroll Rec Center for more information.
