The Jefferson Police Department broke up a group fight on Wednesday night that resulted in the arrest of one Jefferson woman. At approximately 1 a.m., the department was notified that a large group of young people were fighting in the street near the intersection of Vine and Adams. As officers arrived at the scene, the individuals scattered. As one segment ran east through the Hy-Vee parking lot, officers were able to apprehend one female, 19-year-old Ann Marie Kelton. Kelton was charged with interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor. Officers also spoke to a female who had been assaulted, but she would not cooperate in filing criminal charges.
