Iowa Secretary of State, Paul Pate, is encouraging survivors of violent crimes to take advantage of Iowa’s address confidentiality program. Pate says many people don’t realize how much personal information is a matter of public record and started Safe at Home to help eligible Iowans hide their home address.
Victims of domestic violence, sexual assault or other similar crimes are qualified to participate in Safe at Home. Pate says now is a good time to register with party primaries only a few weeks away.
Pate says the protections provided by Safe at Home extended beyond voter registration.
He says it is important to note that Safe at Home is not a witness protection program, does not shield individuals from legal obligations and cannot hide certain real estate records. To check your eligibility for Safe at Home, use the contact points included with this story on our website.
