Several Emergency Crews Respond To Single-Vehicle Cement Truck Accident Thursday Afternoon

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Greene County Emergency Medical Services, Grand Junction Rescue and Jefferson Fire and Rescue in a single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon. At approximately 2:50 p.m., 42-year-old William Ray Richards of Coon Rapids crossed the center line and entered the ditch in the 1100 block of U Avenue, on the southwest side of Grand Junction, in a 2011 Peterbilt cement truck owned by Hamilton Redi-Mix. He had been driving north when he entered the west ditch, flipping the truck onto the driver’s side. Richards was not wearing a seatbelt and was trapped inside the cab of the truck until a team with Jefferson Fire and Rescue was able to assist in getting him out. UnityPoint Lifeflight was also on scene for possible injuries. Damage to the cement truck was estimated at $150,000. Any injuries sustained were not included in the report.
