The court date for an Auburn man accused of burglary and weapon charges has been scheduled for later this summer in District Court for Carroll County. Forty-three-year-old Trevor Shawn Caughey faces counts of second-degree burglary, a class C felony, carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor. The charges stem from an incident on May 25, 2017 in Carroll. According to court records, Caughey allegedly burglarized an apartment in the 900 block of N. East Street. He was later found to be carrying a loaded Colt pistol in his vehicle and had marijuana in his possession while being booked into the Carroll County jail. His trial is slated to begin on Tuesday, July 10 at the Carroll County Courthouse, and a pretrial conference is scheduled for Friday, June 29 to determine if the case will be resolved prior to going before a jury. If found guilty of the charges, Caughey could be ordered to serve up to 12 years in prison and pay a maximum of nearly $18,000 in fines.
