Authorities in Calhoun County are warning of a new scam that targets local residents with fake traffic citations. A Rockwell City citizen reported on Tuesday they had received an email that appeared to originate from the Department of Motor Vehicles informing them they had been cited for a speeding violation. The message requested the recipient to pay a fine within 72 hours and included several methods to pay online. Local authorities caution that they do not issue tickets by email and recommend individuals who receive similar messages to ignore the included links.
