A Papillion, Neb. man accused of stealing nearly $1,400 in goods from the Carroll Walmart has been sentenced to serve prison time. A judge handed down the order against 34-year-old Shawn Michael Jones on Thursday, June 14 in District Court for Carroll County. Jones pled guilty to one count of second-degree theft, a class D felony. The charge stems from incidents on Dec. 15 and Dec. 22. In the first incident, Jones replaced existing barcodes with ones from cheaper items, depriving the store of almost $200. On Dec. 22, he filled a cart with approximately $1,200 in products and left the store without paying. Jones was ordered to serve up to five years in the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections with credit for time served at the Carroll County jail prior to his sentencing.
