CCSD Board Of Education Congratulates Outgoing Superintendent For 18 Years Of Service To District

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education took a break from their agenda Monday night to thank Rob Cordes, the outgoing superintendent, for his years of service to the district and to education. Board President, Jen Munson, offered congratulations on behalf of the board, staff and families and wished him luck in his retirement.

Cordes worked in education for over three decades, nearly half of which was with the Carroll district. He began here in 2000, spending four years as the Carroll Middle School principal before becoming superintendent. He acted as the district’s leader for 14 years before announcing his retirement in December of last year. Munson says Cordes will leave a lasting, positive impact on the school system and listed a few of the significant accomplishments under his direction.

Cordes was also named a School Administrators of Iowa (SAI) finalist for Superintendent of the Year in 2017. Munson adds the district’s strong financial position is of particular note, especially during a period in which state funding for schools has decreased. Munson recognized his dedication with two plaques, one from the board and another from the Iowa School Board Association. Cordes was grateful for the opportunities provided by the district and thanked the staff and his family for their support through the years.

Cordes’ final school board meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 27. His contract ends with the fiscal year on June 30. Dr. Kevin Lein, the incoming superintendent, begins July 1.
