Incoming Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Superintendent, Dr. Kevin Lein, hosted a meet and greet Thursday night to give the public an opportunity to ask questions before his contract begins. Lein says he asked each person who attended if they had any advice for him as he prepares for the job.
In a past role as a high school principal in Harrisburg, S.D., Lein spent much of his time focusing on finding a path for each individual to become their best. While there, he implemented an individualized learning environment that allows for students to advance at their own pace. He says that worked at his previous school district, but it does not necessarily mean it would be successful in Carroll. According to Lein, different schools use different means to reach the same goal.
Lein believes that strong communication between families and administration is a surefire way to continue the success of Carroll Public Schools and wants stakeholders to know their input is valuable.
Thursday’s event was just the first of many public events that Lein plans to host as a way to maintain a continuous dialogue with stakeholders. Lein will be taking over for Rob Cordes, the outgoing superintendent, on Sunday, July 1.
