A local family is accepting can and bottle deposits tomorrow (Saturday) to raise money to support the Carroll Public Library. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Glenn Babb, his family and volunteers will be set up in the employee parking lot to the south of the Farner Government Building. Babb says the can drive will allow kids, like his four-year-old daughter, to show their support for the library project.

He adds children from all over town have already shown they are willing to raise money on their own.

On Tuesday, the library foundation was notified of an extraordinary challenge grant. An anonymous donor will match donations until midnight on Aug. 8 up to $150,000. In an effort to receive a Community Attractions and Tourism (CAT) grant of more than $600,000, the community was asked to fill a nearly $207,000 funding gap. Babb says that matching donation makes reaching that goal a reality, and residents will be able to see every dollar raised have an impact.

Babb encourages people with any amount of cans or bottles to stop by and drop off their donation. Volunteers will even pick up deposits at your home if notified by contacting Babb at 712-210-1253. A link to their Facebook page can be found included below.
