The annual Iowa Tax Free Weekend will kick-off on Friday Aug. 3 and run through Saturday, Aug. 4. In order to help families prepare for the upcoming school year, the tax free holiday will eliminate state and local option sales tax on specific items and under certain stipulations. Any clothing or footwear item under $100 will be tax-free, no matter how many of these types of purchases are made in any single transaction. Individual pieces of clothing or footwear that are priced over $100 will not be eligible for tax-free status. Any store open in the state of Iowa during the Tax Free Weekend is required to participate. The promotion does not extend to Sunday.
