A Des Moines man was taken into custody on Thursday after threatening to slit the throat of a Storm Lake woman. The reporting party contacted authorities on the evening of Sunday, Aug. 5, and told officers with the Storm Lake Police Department that 35-year-old Veil Jackson-Douglass had left several threatening voicemails, including the threat of physical harm. At that time, a warrant was issued, charging Jackson-Douglass with first degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor. On Thursday, Aug. 9, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the department was notified that the suspect had been located and arrested by the Cherokee Police Department. Jackson-Douglass was transported to the Buena Vista County jail and held on a $2,000 bond.
