The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to a semi-tractor trailer accident on Highway 30 west of Jefferson early Tuesday morning. Sheriff, Jack Williams, deputies, Greene County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Jefferson Police and Fire Departments closed down a section of the highway near L Avenue at approximately 3:58 a.m. A 2004 Peterbilt tractor and trailer, filled with scrap metal and driven by 56-year-old Terry Smith of Lake View, was eastbound on Highway 30 when he lost control. The truck slid on its side, dumping the metal across the roadway. Smith was transported to the Greene County Medical Center for treatment of injuries. He will be cited for failure to maintain control.
