Democratic candidate for Governor of Iowa, Fred Hubbell, will be making a campaign stop in Carroll this coming Sunday, Sept. 9. The public is invited to the meet-and-greet event that gets underway at 4 p.m. at the Carroll County Democratic Headquarters, located at 206 West 5th St. (next to Jacobsen Travel). Hubbell, who was born and raised in Des Moines, left Iowa after graduating from law school to practice in New York City. He returned to his home state, in the mid-1980s and became the chairman of Younkers department stores and President of a life insurance company founded by his great-great grandfather, Equitable of Iowa. Hubbell has also served as Acting Director of the Department of Economic Development and as Chair of the Iowa Power Fund Board of Directors. Hubbell will be answering constituent’s questions on his stance on the issues facing Iowa, including his identified priorities of education, healthcare, women’s rights and Iowa’s workforce.
