Audubon Community Schools has been selected as one of the top 150 places to work in Iowa. The Des Moines Register choses recipients each year based on nominations from individuals employed by the business or organization. This is the second time in five years that the district has received this distinction, and according to Superintendent, Brett Gibbs, they are thrilled with the award. He says it shows how truly appreciated the teachers and staff feel at Audubon.

Audubon employs approximately 80 people and was ranked 54th in the small business category. Gibbs says it shows that the teachers and support staff wholeheartedly enjoy being Wheelers. He credits the emphasis the administration puts on a positive work environment and ensuring everybody knows how critical they are to the success of the school and its students.

Gibbs adds the designation also makes a big impact on potential applicants when they are trying to fill a vacancy. He says Audubon’s small size prevents them from offering more competitive salaries to new teachers, but having the ability to show prospective employees that many individuals have stayed in the district for more than a decade goes a long way towards enticing people to work in Audubon.
