A Carroll man was ordered to serve time in the county jail after pleading guilty to assaulting a Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputy. According to court records, 21-year-old Andrew Allen Malloy entered his plea last week after reaching an agreement with prosecutors. He was sentenced Wednesday to 90 days incarceration with all but 10 days suspended, to be served concurrently with any sentence in connection to convictions in Audubon County District Court for third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit forcible felony. As a condition of a portion of his sentence being suspended, Malloy was placed on informal probation for one year. He was also ordered to pay more than $500 in fines, surcharges and court costs. The charge stemmed from an incident on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the Carroll County jail. Malloy was being removed from the jail’s general population for disruptive behavior and spit into a deputy’s face while being placed into protective headgear to prevent him from injuring himself.
