St. Anthony Regional Hospital is introducing Rebecca (Becky) Richards, RN, as their new director of obstetrics. “At St. Anthony, we have the important privilege of safely and compassionately welcoming the next generation to our community,” says President and CEO, Ed Smith. “It is imperative that we maintain skilled, talented team members to oversee that important task. We are excited to welcome Becky to our obstetrics team, as we lead the region in the number of deliveries right here in Carroll.” Richardson is coming to The Birth Place from UnityPoint Health’s Finley Hospital, where she served for 35 years. She was the acting birthing suites director, overseeing a 15-bed suite, neonatal intensive care unit and more than 750 births annually. “From the moment I interviewed at St. Anthony, I recognized it was a special place,” Richardson says. “I felt a warm, welcoming feeling from the staff and community members. The obstetric nurses at The Birth Place provide excellent patient care and do a fantastic job of including the entire family in newborn care education. I look forward to utilizing my experience at a large-scale facility to provide the additional insight and perspective to an already outstanding place.” Richardson will work closely with Pat Hogan, who will be retiring as director of The Birth Place after serving St. Anthony for 37 years. Richardson and her husband, Joe, have three grown children and in her spare time she enjoys reading, biking, scrapbooking and spending time with her family.
