Driver’s Foot Becomes Stuck And Car Rams Into Carroll Laundromat

A Lohrville man was uninjured after hitting a Carroll laundromat, but a patron inside sustained minor lacerations. The Carroll Police Department reports they were dispatched at approximately 2:28 p.m. Tuesday to Midwest Coin Laundry on U.S. Highway 30 west, behind Anytime Fitness. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the driver, 57-year-old Christopher John Lockner. He told authorities he was entering the south parking lot, driving a 2006 Buick LaCrosse to the southwest before turning westbound. His foot became trapped between the brake and gas pedals and he was unable to stop. The vehicle continued westbound, hopped the curb and struck the side of the laundromat. Lockner also indicated he had a physical disability that resulted in partial paralysis and he was wearing a corrective orthopedic device with an elevated heal, which could have contributed to his foot becoming caught. There was an estimated $5,000 in damage done to Lockner’s vehicle and $8,000 to four panels of window glass and the frame of the Matt Greteman-owned laundromat. Thirty-seven-year-old Nyuat Awien Kur of Carroll, who was inside the laundromat, was hit by the shattered glass, receiving a cut to her right wrist. Kur declined medical transport and drove herself to a doctor’s office.
