There was only one word to describe how Republican incumbent Brian Best felt going into Election Day and which way the vote would go in the race for the District 12 House of Representatives seat between him and Democratic opponent Peter Leo.
Although Best is a resident of Glidden in Carroll County, it also took the voters in Crawford and Audubon Counties to re-elect him to the position. He said he could not have done this without the volunteers who carried signs, knocked on doors and supported his position. Again, the first people thanked are the ones who got out and voted after his nearly 11 month campaign.
He also wanted to thank his opponent for a well-run race.
Best is anxious to get back to work, continuing to push forward with fine tuning of the Future Ready Iowa initiative and serving on his many committees, including as chair of the Economic Development Budget Committee. Leo has submitted a statement, congratulating Best on his re-election and wishing him well in his third term. He says Best has been “gracious and respectful throughout this campaign.” He also says he would like to thank his supporters, urging them to find their footing and get back to the work of making Iowa the best it can be in 2019. He pledges to continue to serve the public through politics in west central Iowa.
