Homeowners in certain areas of Lake City could be eligible to receive nearly $25,000 from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to be used to make improvements to their home. Starting approximately two years ago, Lake City had four homes enrolled, but due to varying circumstances, only one is still participating. Administrator, Eric Wood, says they still have access to a substantial amount of grant money and are going to open up applications, rather than let the money go to waste.

The program will provide up to $24,999 per home if approved and will be forgiven if the recipient continues to live in the house for at least five more years. Wood says it is a perfect opportunity for the aging structures in town to be updated.

Wood says nearly all eligible property-owners have been notified of the opportunity by mail, but he encourages anybody who is unsure to check with city officials. For more information about the grant and the application process, contact Wood at city hall using the information included below.
