Carroll Man Collides With Deputy Sheriff’s Vehicle; Disabling Stoplights At Highway 30 And Carroll Street

There was an estimated $3,000 in damages to the stop lights at the intersection of Highway 30 and Carroll Street Friday when a Carroll man collided with an unmarked, Carroll County Sheriff’s vehicle traveling to the scene of another accident. The Carroll Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 7:22 a.m. to find a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 45-year-old Jeffrey Toyne, was southbound on Carroll Street. At the same time, a 2018 Ford F150, driven by 58-year-old Lt. Thomas Fransen of Glidden, was eastbound on Highway 30. The Sheriff’s vehicle had lights and siren activated as it traveled through the intersection. No injuries were reported, but as of Monday morning, the stoplights at that intersection were still out of commission and four-way stop signs were in place. There was an estimated $5,000 in damage to the Sheriff’s vehicle and about $1,000 to the Toyne Trailblazer.
