Jefferson Police Looking For Suspect In Two Hit-And-Run Cases

The Jefferson Police Department is investigating two hit-and-run incidents that are believed to involve the same vehicle and the same driver. At approximately 3:23 p.m. Friday, an officer was contacted about the first incident on West Washington and North Chestnut Streets. Upon arrival, he spoke with Arlene Hamling of Jefferson, who says she was westbound on Washington in a 2008 Saturn Outlook and as she entered the intersection, she was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Chestnut. The vehicle did not stop, but continued to the north. Hamling’s Saturn suffered about $8,000 in damages. At about the same time, Brittany Richardson reported that the same vehicle had struck a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 owned by her father, William Richardson of Jefferson. The truck was parked in the 300 block of North Chestnut Street and suffered about $1,500 in damages. Grille pieces recovered at the scene are consistent with the description of the vehicle involved in the first accident.
