Jefferson Man Arrested Thursday Faces An Additional Charge After Assaulting A Jailer

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Jefferson Police Department were involved in a joint investigation after receiving a call about a patron refusing to leave a business. At approximately 12:22 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, employees from Wild Rose Casino requested assistance with an intoxicated male who was fighting with employees. A police officer arrived to learn the man had left, driving east on Highway 30. The officer and a deputy located the vehicle at a convenience store on east Highway 30 and found 57-year-old Michael Allen Olson of Jefferson inside. Olson was arrested and charged with first-offense operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor, and public intoxication and disorderly conduct, both simple misdemeanors. Olson continued to be confrontational after being transported to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center. At approximately 3 a.m., a deputy assisted a jailer who was assaulted by Olson. An additional charge of assault on a person in a certain occupation was filed.
