President of the Carroll Community School District Board of Education, Jen Munson, says that last Thursday’s closed-session meeting for an evaluation of Superintendent, Dr. Kevin Lein, had been pre-planned, based on changes made a few years ago.

Following the closed session, there was speculation heard among some community members that there may have been more to that meeting. Munson iterated that this was a performance-based assessment.

Munson would also not comment on whether or not the closed meeting could affect the security of Lein’s position with the district. She sticks by her statement that this was an evaluation for the best interests of the students and the school.

Munson also says there will be another closed session meeting in the next couple of weeks because they did not get through what they needed to last Thursday evening. There will be no decisions made at that time, she says.

Dr. Lein was contacted for comment, but at that time was unable to address the questions raised about a closed session without board approval.
