An internationally renowned Catholic author, speaker and founder of the Chastity Project, Jason Evert, will be speaking to students throughout western and west central Iowa next month. The Kuemper Catholic School System will be hosting Evert in special assemblies on Wednesday, Feb. 27 and Thursday Feb. 28 in Carroll. Parents and other students are also invited to hear Evert talk about the importance and benefits of chastity in the PURIFIED events. One of these presentations is for parents only, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the Holy Spirit Greteman Center. In “Parenting for Purity,” he will outline strategies parents can use to safeguard the innocence of their children and effectively communicate the benefits and beauty of chastity in the family. The second presentation, “Love or Lust,” will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night at the Holy Spirit Greteman Center. Evert will help teens discover the difference between love and lust while getting straight answers about dating, relationships and sexual purity. Then on Thursday evening, Evert will lead the February Theology on Tap Session at the Carrollton Center, beginning with a social hour at 6:30 p.m. and the presentation to follow at 7 p.m. Here he will bring more details on being “Called to Love,” a frank discussion on the topic of being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) and how all people can find freedom and love within the church.
