Lake City businesses, community members and financial sponsors are partnering with Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in a new one-day initiative to assist area residents in need of help. The program, This is Home, has identified a goal of ensuring the safety of residents while also bringing more beauty and improvement to the community. “As our board and leadership team look to the future, we see being involved in our community a key priority, not only in healthcare, but to help meet other needs of our residents,” says CEO, Cindy Carstens. Projects will be selected based on several factors, including the time needed to complete, number of volunteers needed, the safety improvements addressed and overall cost of the project. This is Home is accepting applications from residents who would like work done on the exterior of their homes or in their yards. They are also recruiting volunteers and more financial sponsors. The number of applications received, the number of volunteers available and the dollar amount of financial assistance will determine the number of people they will be able to serve. The deadline to fill out an application is Friday, March 29 for the April 27 event. A link to register online can be found here, or interested parties can pick up an application at City Hall. Volunteers and local business and financial sponsors will also find more information on how to participate below.
