Perry Woman Accused Of Vehicle Theft Arrested After Failing To Appear For Court Hearing

A Perry woman, who is accused of stealing a vehicle from Guernsey last December, was arrested over the weekend after failing to appear at a court hearing. According to Carroll County District Court records, 25-year-old Delaney Moriah Spencer, was taken into custody at the Dallas County jail by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, Feb. 10. On Dec. 18, Spencer was allegedly found in possession of a reportedly stolen 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer and approximately 3.9 grams of methamphetamine outside of the Coon Rapids Dollar General. Spencer pled not guilty to one count of second-degree theft, a class D felony, and first-offense possession of methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor, and was released from the Carroll County jail on her own recognizance on Dec. 31. An arrest warrant for Spencer was issued on Jan. 24 after she failed to appear for a pretrial conference. Spencer claims an ex-boyfriend had stolen the Trailblazer, and she was forced to take it from him in order to escape an abusive relationship.
