Superintendent of the IKM-Manning Community School District, Trevor Miller, has distributed a letter to parents outlining their plans for making up some of the lost time due to the recent spate of winter weather. Students will now have a full day of school on Monday, March 18, Thursday, April 18 and Thursday, May 23. At this time, the last day of school is now scheduled for Friday, May 24 with a 1:30 p.m. dismissal. The plan he presented, however, does not include the time lost from this Wednesday’s storm. Miller says that he will be talking with staff about options to recoup the time lost there. If there are any additional snow days that occur before spring finally arrives, Miller says they will use Monday, April 22 as a make-up day and may also consider adding additional time to the school days in April and May to reach the required 1080 hours. In the event of even more cancellations, the district will consider extending the school year beyond the Memorial Day holiday. Miller says he will be releasing the decision on the latest make-up day as soon as possible.
