The Carroll Police Department reports two arrests on Thursday, one involving a driver with a high Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) and another in relation to a late February incident. At approximately 1:13 a.m. an officer performed a traffic stop at U.S. Highway 30 and West Street. This resulted in the arrest of 36-year-old Benjamin Badding of Carroll, who recorded a BAC of .183, more than two times the legal limit of .08. Badding was charged with first offense operating while intoxicated. The second arrest occurred at approximately 9:37 a.m. when 37-year-old Nickolas Downs of Carroll was taken into custody. An investigation into an incident on Feb. 26 led to Downs’ arrest on a charge of unauthorized use of a credit card, an aggravated misdemeanor.
