Michael John Ortner formerly of Carroll

Michael John Ortner, age 53, of Des Moines and formerly of Carroll passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City surrounded by his family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant.  Lector for the Mass will be Michelle Phillips.  Gift Bearers will be his sisters Lori Macy and Kristi Hugen.  Eucharistic Minister will Michelle Phillips. Music will be by Dr. Franklyn Busby, Pastoral Musician and the Holy Spirit Resurrection Choir.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit Church from 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday until the time of Mass.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family atwww.dahnandwoodhouse.com
Born on April 3, 1966 in Carroll, IA, he was the son of Bonnie (Vernia) and Melvin Ortner.  Mike grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1984.  Mike lived in Des Moines.  He loved Harley Davidson Motor Cycles and enjoyed riding every chance he had. 
Mike is survived by his son Alex Kokenge of Carroll; his mother Bonnie Neumayer (Stoney) of Carroll; his siblings: Kevin Ortner (Cindy Owens) of Dublin, OH, Tim Ortner (Nancy) of Marysville, WA, Lori Macy (Burt Sly) of Des Moines, and Kristi Hugen (Eric) of Monroe, IA; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
