Gov. Kim Reynolds has ordered all state flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff beginning tomorrow (Tuesday) in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week. Flags will remain at half-staff from sunrise on May 14 to sunrise on Monday, May 20. Flags will be lowered on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex. They will also be at half-staff on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to participate for the same length of time as a sign of respect. The governor’s order was issued in conjunction with an order from President Donald Trump to lower all U.S. flags to half-staff.
