Gov. Kim Reynolds has ordered all flags in Iowa to be flown at half-staff today (Friday) to honor a fallen U.S. sailor. Flags will be lowered at the State Capitol Building, on flag displays in the Capitol Complex and on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state until sunset this evening. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encourage to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect for 23-year-old Seaman First Class, Wesley Jordan of Deep River. Jordan was killed in action on Dec. 7, 1941 while serving on the USS Oklahoma during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. His remains were recently identified and have been returned to his family for burial in Barnes City with full military honors.
