Barbara Ann Riese, age 82, of Scranton, IA, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Chestnut Ridge Nursing Home in Cumming, Georgia.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2019 with Chaplain Angelo Luis officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Born on January 16, 1936 in Perry, Iowa, she was the daughter of Loy and Alta (Fouch) Sweeney. Barbara graduated from Jefferson High School in 1954. Following high school, she attended Boone Junior College then Drake University. She later continued her studies at the University of Northern Iowa. Barb taught in the Scranton school system for twenty years at various positions such as kindergarten, teachers aid, and learning disabilities. She continued working with the disabled at New Hope Village in Carroll until her retirement. After retirement, she moved to Cumming, Georgia, where she lived at White Oaks assisted living and Chestnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab.
Barbara is survived by her children: John Pemble (Becky) of Scranton, IA; and Mollie Pemble – Searing (John) of Cumming, GA; her grandchildren: Jennifer Pemble Schauls (Jeremiah), Tyler Pemble (Holly), Bridget Pemble Schon (Steve), Macey Searing Cane (Jordan), and Morgan Searing; her great-grandchildren: Josie Schauls, Jaylynn Schauls, Zoey Pemble, Bo Pemble, Autumn Pemble, Madison Schon, Brody Schon; and a sister Mary Lou Wragg (Robert) of Canton Lake, TX;
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Loy Corwin Sweeney and Alta Mae (Fouch) Sweeney Lindhardt and her husband Larold Riese.
